Sony a9 III Firmware Version 2.00 Released !

Sony has officially released firmware update version 2.00 for Sony a9 III. This firmware update brings several enhancements to shooting, playback, and network functions. Key features include remote camera control via wired LAN, automatic creation of still images with Shot Marks from movie frames, support for shutter speeds up to 1/80000s, Relay Playback, Sync Release for multiple cameras, and increased maximum number of images per folder. The update also adds Wi-Fi signal strength display, C2PA format support, Custom Grid Line, direct upload to Creators’ Cloud app, and improved FTP transfer capabilities. Additionally, various bug fixes and stability improvements are included.

Sony Announces Firmware Updates for a1, a9 III, a7S III and a7 IV

Sony has released significant firmware updates for four of its full-frame cameras: the a1, a7S III, a7 IV, and a9 III. These updates bring the cameras up to the latest standards, add new features, and introduce C2PA authenticity verification capabilities.

The a1 receives the most extensive update with firmware v2.00, including lens breathing compensation, an option to keep the EVF on regardless of LCD position, relay playback across multiple media, Timecode Sync, and FTP options with SFTP support. The a7S III‘s firmware v3.00 adds similar features, along with the ability to close the mechanical shutter when the camera is off and transfer Raw files to smartphones. It also enables DCI 4K 24p shooting with a separate license.
